The grand tour chords1/20/2023 I was at university when Fear and its top-charting singles were getting heavy rotation on college radio and MTV – a very fruitful time to witness the slow and steady rise of Santa Barbara’s biggest export. His behind-the-scenes look into one of the bands’ most famous albums kept me on the edge of my seat, creating questions “on the fly” as the conversation dug deeper into the belly of the beast. I found Dean’s storytelling and reflective insight compelling and brutally honest. ![]() Have a chat with Toad the Wet Sprocket bassist Dean Dinning and you’ll see what I mean. It’s not too often I leave an interview wanting more. It just shows how hard work, tenacity and true love for the art gets you to the top of your game. Kudos to Toad the Wet Sprocket, and here’s to many more years of success and happiness to a well-deserved group of musicians who remain grounded throughout the journey (and not taking themselves too seriously). ![]() It says a lot when four high school friends can continue to keep the torch lit after 30-plus years of making music together, with only one lineup change. Readers and fans should appreciate that this band is extremely professional, articulate, and seriously passionate to the core. I wanted to give a shout out and special thanks to Glen Phillips for getting the ball rolling by introducing me to Dean Dinning, bassist for Toad the Wet Sprocket.
